Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Join the Edge Services team to automate, operate, and support global CDN, DHCP, DNS, GSLB, Load-balancing, and Proxy platforms serving Apple’s global customers. Imagine what you can do here. At Apple, great ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. It’s the diversity of our people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do.
Edge Services form the critical boundary between our users and our backend infrastructure. We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team to help power this massive, globally distributed ecosystem. In this role, you will be at the forefront of global service delivery, performance optimization, and platform reliability. This position is ideal for a curious, impact-driven engineer who values continuous learning across multiple technical disciplines—from systems engineering to network architecture—and who excels at bridging the gap between complex technical execution and overarching business goals.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain highly available Edge infrastructure, spanning proxy, CDN, and global routing services.
- Own technical challenges within your domain to design and implement robust solutions.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to continuously improve systems and processes.
- Partner with network, SRE, global operations teams, and EPMs to ensure highly reliable operations.
- Shape our technical direction by proposing architectural improvements and guiding strategy.
- Active RHCE or LPIC-2 certification, or equivalent Linux engineering experience.
- Experience using observability, monitoring, logging, and traffic analysis tools (e.g., Splunk, ClickHouse, Grafana, Prometheus).
- Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals with hands-on experience in BGP, routing principles, network topology design, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, and TLS.
- Experience using configuration management tools (e.g., Salt, Puppet, Ansible) to manage production systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document complex processes and present technical findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving time-sensitive production incidents effectively.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 3+ years managing global or large-scale network services (e.g., DNS, GSLB, DHCP, CDN).
- Experience writing scripts in languages like Python, Go, or Bash or practical knowledge of leveraging Generative AI (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to improve operational efficiency.
- CCNP certification (active or in progress) or equivalent network engineering experience.
