Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications – Mainland China will lead the development and execution of integrated corporate communications strategies that support business growth, protect and enhance corporate reputation, and deepen stakeholder relationships for The Walt Disney Company in Mainland China.

This position requires a seasoned leader with deep Mainland China media and corporate communications expertise, strong judgment, and proven experience navigating complex, fast‑moving, and highly visible environments. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in shaping narratives, managing issues, and influencing outcomes across corporate, business, and reputational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Reputation & Strategic Media Relations

  • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of integrated corporate communications and media relations programs aligned with TWDC’s business and reputational priorities in Mainland China.
  • Shape proactive storylines, thought leadership, and executive positioning in close partnership with the China leadership team, and APAC and global corporate communications teams. Drive a holistic corporate story and messaging across all lines of businesses.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for top‑tier, influential media engagements, building and sustaining senior‑level relationships across business, entertainment and consumer media, as well as top influencers and third party advocates and commentators.
  • Oversee media strategy and execution for major Disney Entertainment announcements, leadership visits, and corporate initiatives.

Executive & Internal Communications

  • Lead executive communications for local leadership, including speeches, presentations, leadership messaging, and internal announcements.
  • Shape internal communications strategies that strengthen employee engagement, alignment, and understanding of business and cultural priorities.

Issues Management & Communications Counsel

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on issues, crisis, and reputational risk, providing timely, clear, and well‑calibrated communications counsel.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Government Affairs, and regional/global communications teams to ensure alignment, risk mitigation, and message consistency.

Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Work with APAC CSR lead on impactful CSR initiatives that contribute to local communities and enhance stakeholder relations, with a focus on children’s hospitals, wish-granting and empowering the next generation of storytellers.

Leadership & Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Serve as a senior communications partner to the China Leadership Team and key stakeholders across Studio, Content Sales, Disney Consumer Products, Integrated Marketing and other functional teams.
  • Ensure strong integration between corporate positioning and content‑related communications strategies.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and mentoring to team members and external agency partners, setting high standards for quality and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 12–15+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, media relations, or journalism, preferably within media, entertainment, technology, or consumer‑facing industries.
  • Deep understanding of the Mainland China media, consumer and government landscape, with established senior‑level stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience leading issues and crisis communications in complex, high‑stakes environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • Experience working effectively in a matrixed, multinational organization, with the ability to influence across levels and functions.
  • Strong strategic thinking, sound judgment, and ability to operate with discretion under pressure.
