Reporting to the Vice President, Network Engineering and Operations, the Director, Network Engineering & Operations will be responsible for leading the business-focused delivery of network services in the network development-operations (DevOps) model to multiple business segments, leading teams of cross functional members, and working closely with other executives to ensure the success of network initiatives across the company. This executive will enable networking innovation, stability, security, and reliability through a robust and forward-thinking network reliability engineering mindset.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Business Engagement:
Act as a senior technology liaison for multiple regions and global segments.
Deliver business-aligned solutions and maintain executive presence with Cast Members and business stakeholders.
Translate business strategies into reliable, automated, and measurable network solutions.
Generate collaboration across teams and foster a culture of agility, ownership, and innovation.
Drive velocity and delivery acceleration, change lead times, improve rate of production deployments or configuration pushes, increase tasks handled via automation vs. manually, facilitate operational efficiency, and ensure resilience and reliability of network services.
Technical Oversight & Domain Architecture:
Lead network engineering and operations across multi-site environments, including critical infrastructure.
Partner with architecture and automation teams to develop and implement reference architectures and scalable solutions.
Ensure high availability, observability, security, and compliance of telecom and network systems.
Oversee infrastructure roadmaps, lifecycle refreshes, and modernization initiatives.
Implement Zero Trust principles and develop resilient, scalable architectures.
NetDevOps Transformation:
Champion Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Introduce telemetry-driven observability and self-healing capabilities to the network.
Inspire and engage teams to embrace the DevOps vision, overcome resistance, and drive innovation.
Partner with DevOps, SRE, and cybersecurity teams to align practices and enhance operational effectiveness.
Lead change initiatives, process automation, and agile delivery methodologies.
Team & Vendor Management:
Build and lead cross-functional engineering and operations teams with a focus on skill growth and innovation.
Oversee telecom field services, structured cabling, UCaaS, and network service delivery.
Attract, mentor, and retain top-tier technical talent.
Manage capital and operational budgets, vendor contracts, compliance obligations, and union workforces.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as a business liaison across segments to align solutions with business outcomes and organizational goals.
Engage with vendors and partners to develop innovative technologies.
Travel (up to 20%) for stakeholder meetings, site visits, and strategic deployments.
Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive leadership in telecommunications, network engineering, or infrastructure operations.
Proven success in driving NetDevOps or network reliability engineering transformations in enterprise environments.
Deep expertise in IP networking, SDN, SIP/VoIP, UCaaS, and cloud networking.
Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MS in IT) or relevant certifications (e.g., CCDA, CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, BICSI, PMP) preferred.
Strong command of tools and frameworks for automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), observability (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, ThousandEyes), and DevOps pipelines.
Experience with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-53 / SP 800-171, CSA Cloud Controls Matrix, General Data Protection Regulation, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, ISO/IEC 27001 & 27002, E911, Kari’s Law, RAY BAUM’s Act, etc.).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related technical field required and/or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $202,900.00 - $272,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
