Our team

The Xbox Platform and Commerce (XPC) team builds and operates critical data platforms and services that power Xbox Platform Commerce experiences at scale. As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to designing, building, and operating reliable, secure, and scalable data services that support product analytics, telemetry, experimentation, and downstream business insights across various Xbox stores.



Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to join XPC organization and participate in building the next version of commerce platform that enhances Publisher experience and Gamer experience on various game stores and touches millions of Xbox gamers across the globe.

  • Design, implement, and maintain large-scale services for telemetry aggregation and reporting.

  • Participate in design discussions, write design documents and help refine technical approaches under senior technical guidance.

  • Contribute production quality code following best engineering practices - with a strong focus on reliability, maintainability, security, and performance.

  • Develop and maintain automated tests, monitor live services, and participate in oncall rotations to ensure healthy and reliable systems.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve data quality, observability, operational excellence, and developer productivity.



Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Proficient programming skills in one or more modern languages (C#, Java, Python etc.)
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
  • Experience building backend services, data pipelines, or distributed systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, crossteam environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Familiarity with data systems such as event ingestion, telemetry pipelines, Spark, Azure Synapse, batch/stream processing, or analytics platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD, monitoring, and livesite operations for production services.
  • Exposure to security, privacy, and compliance considerations in data systems.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate technical tradeoffs.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
