Overview

Be at the forefront of AI evaluation by joining the Copilot Offline Evaluation Platform team and help us deliver the platform that makes Copilot innovation fast, reliable, and regression-free.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will transform how Copilot features are developed and evaluated. Your team will deliver end-to-end experimentation, evaluation, and validations to Copilot engineers, PMs, and data scientists. You’ll work on the control plane that orchestrates the offline evaluation lifecycle, including tenant and resource management, data generation of users' activities, data hydration and injection, and chaos engineering. Empowering Copilot teams to prototype safely and measure quality with scientific rigor. Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
  • Drive identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Partner with stakeholders (e.g., PM, DS, Leadership) to determine user requirements within and across teams.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and share knowledge with other engineers.
  • Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with appropriate stakeholders to drive the workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
  • Act as an expert and DRI (Designated Responsible Individual), be on call to mitigate system/product/service degradation to avoid downtime or interruptions.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Effective communication/collaboration skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issuesIn-depth knowledge of cloud development.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Solid analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to problem-solving, consistently upholding high standards of quality and engineering rigor.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, skilled at working across disciplines, levels, and product areas to drive alignment and shared success.
  • Proven track record of independently owning and delivering technically challenging projects with measurable impact.
  • Fast learner with a demonstrated ability to quickly master new technologies, tools, and domains.
  • Comfortable at operating in a dynamic environment; takes initiative to bring clarity and momentum.
  • Self-motivated and outcomes-focused, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
