The Azure Cost Management and Pricing team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer - Azure CMP to help shape the future of cost transparency and pricing tools across Microsoft Azure.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, TypeScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of proficiency building scalable web applications or RESTful APIs.
- 5+ years of strong problem-solving skills
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams in building customer-facing products, with a strong emphasis on mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- 5+ years of proficiency with cloud-native architecture, microservices, and asynchronous workflows, alongside a strong background in agent-based systems, workflow engines, or declarative programming models.
- 5+ years of working closely with product and design teams to shape scalable abstractions and reference implementations that serve diverse use cases.
- 5+ years of navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in early-stage platform development, ensuring alignment and momentum across engineering efforts.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop user-facing experiences for Azure Cost Management, enabling customers to track cloud usage, analyze trends, and optimize efficiency.
- Build and maintain robust APIs that power cost management dashboards and integrate with other Azure services.
- Contribute to Azure Pricing + Calculators, including services like Cost Card, Pricing Calculator, and Microsoft Pricing Experiences.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver seamless experiences on the Azure Marketing Site.
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of services used by millions of users globally.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
