This role is not just about legal support—it’s about being a strategic advisor to Microsoft’s Global System Integrator (GSI) business. You will work across compliance, commercial contracting, competition law, and AI issues, supporting some of the largest deals at Microsoft and helping to shape Microsoft's relationships with global partners.
The Global Growth and Partner team in the Corporate, External and legal Affairs (CELA) department prides itself on collaboration, learning, energy, and building relationships with partners and customers. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Corporate Counsel role to join a team of attorneys that support all aspects of Microsoft’s enterprise partner business. In this global role you will have an opportunity to deliver legal services to accelerate Microsoft’s business while working with talented attorneys and business leaders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree AND 6+ years' experience as a practicing attorney
- OR equivalent experience.
- Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in the following:
- In-house counsel experience.
- Cloud computing, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies and the related legal issues.
- Contract negotiation, legal drafting, and communications skills.
- Legal analysis, risk tolerance, and managing stakeholder priorities.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to solve complex issues through collaboration to generate consensus across diverse points of view.
- Working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
- Working in an evolving business environment addressing new strategies and transformation.
- Project management skills to work efficiently and meet deadlines in the face of competing priorities.
Legal Counsel IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $147,000 - $258,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $185,900 - $278,900 per year.

Responsibilities
Legal Advice and Counsel
- Support the global enterprise partner team, anticipating and addressing highly complex legal and business issues, and serving as a key strategic partner and advisor to business clients.
- Lead complex technology transactions and develop negotiation strategies.
- Creatively solve problems and coordinate across CELA and business team subject matter experts.
- Utilize outside counsel effectively and guide escalations to appropriate senior leaders in order to take smart and well-informed risks to address customer and partner needs.
- Stay informed of rules, regulations, and other statutory requirements relating to Microsoft business and advise business clients and CELA colleagues accordingly.
- Communicate in a manner that advances negotiations and projects, creates clarity, utilizes insights, and advances closure of open issues.
- Support the business teams in ensuring legal compliance and in providing solutions to mitigate risks.
