Overview

The Azure High Performance Computing & Artificial Intelligence (HPC & AI) compute platform team defines and delivers the hardware roadmap, software, and services that enable our users to run technical computing workloads in Azure – extreme scale AI training and inference including large language models, traditional HPC modelling and simulations, remote visualization, and immersive gaming experiences. We are responsible for providing Azure customers with supercomputer-class capabilities to accelerate their research, drive competitive differentiation, and finding answers to some of the most difficult questions of science and industry.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who has a proven track record working with complex and distributed engineering systems that are used in operating large-scale cloud solutions. This role requires a candidate with an ability to articulate a vision, inspire and get key stakeholder buy-in and delivery, model Microsoft values and lead cross-organization teams to program success.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with modern cloud infrastructure concepts and design techniques
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years of experience delivering software features in a fast paced online services environment

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • General understanding of cloud infrastructure with prior experience in managing complex cloud system internals
  • Exposure to artificial intelligence agent frameworks, large language model-based tools, or intelligent automation platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and partnership skills across a diverse set of audiences and stakeholders.
  • A growth-mindset that enables creativity in thinking, analytical skills, an ability to deal with ambiguity, management of changing priorities, consistency in learning from others, and passion for solving complex problems with engineering solutions that optimize both the product and customer experience.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Azure HPC & AI product group is looking for a dedicated and technically adept Senior Product Manager (PM) to lead the design, development and deployment of automated workflows for managing our global fleet of clusters. You will work cross-functionally with hardware engineering, datacenter operations, software development and supply chain teams to continually improve reliability, scalability and efficiency of infrastructure operations at hyperscale.
  • Drive alignment across organizations on goals, timelines and deliverables.
  • Partner with engineering teams to define and implement automated workflows for monitoring, diagnostics, repair and lifecycle management of hardware components.
  • Leverage telemetry, logs and operational data to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
  • Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure on-time and high quality delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and stakeholders on program status, key metrics and roadblocks.
  • A self-starter with proven track record of managing complex program/project to successful completion, working across a large set of cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Willing and able to mentor members of the team and provide support to our Product Management team.
  • Candidate must be coachable and a team player.
