Overview

As organizations increasingly turn to generative AI tools and the amount of data created exponentially grows, the risk of sensitive data exposure or unauthorized use is increasing. This shift makes broad visibility into and mitigation of data risks across the digital landscape not only important—but essential. To effectively safeguard data in today’s environment, organizations of all sizes need a robust and integrated data security strategy, bringing together data and user context across cloud apps, services, devices, AI tools, and more.

We’re seeking a customer-obsessed Product Marketing Manager, Purview Data Security, to join our team of collaborative marketing members who are individually brilliant, love working with each other, take ownership, and embrace a growth mindset. To reach our goals in this market, you are focused on the customer and business outcomes and have experience in building partnerships with cross functional teams to influence the product narrative and go-to-market channels. You would look end-to-end across the Data Security business from marketing campaigns to field and partner readiness to product narrative for partner to field to competitor to help improve product, deliver offers, land scale through partners and field, and deliver great digital marketing. In this role you will be responsible for marketing Microsoft Purview’s Data Security solutions.

Purview Data Security is the fastest growing business in the Security portfolio and your primary objectives are to build a compelling narrative, increase awareness, help drive sales, deployment, and usage of our Data Security solutions in a space with high potential growth. This role requires proven storytelling expertise, passion for customers, business acumen, strategic thinking, and collaboration across multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business
    • OR Master's Degree in in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in creating marketing content for various audiences, including technical breakout sessions, executive keynotes, and product demos.
  • 1+ years' experience of product marketing / product management experience within the cybersecurity or AI space.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business
    • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Storyteller - demonstrated ability to create narratives targeted to different segments, delivering clear outcomes and a call to action.
  • Passion to proactively and quickly learn new and emerging technologies and ability to explain key end-user scenarios and technical architectures to technical audiences.
  • Curiosity to understand the nuances of the solution, identify key competitive differentiators and be able to simplify the messaging for the customers, partners, and sales teams.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Positive, motivated, and inspiring. Strategic thinker who is curious, resilient, goal oriented with a bias for action and can look at the big picture to connect dots.
  • Passion for understanding customer needs and delivering exceptional ‘product truths’ that differentiate products in a rapidly changing landscape and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.
  • Collaboration skills and the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization across engineering, sales, and marketing.
  • Analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to use data to build and present business cases to key stakeholders.

Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end data security positioning and narrative and deliver the value proposition in messaging and in content - ensure customer challenges, key scenarios, product value proposition, and differentiation is highlighted.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure data security campaign strategy meets the business goals and influence full funnel from awareness to consideration to purchase, to deployment, and usage.
  • Oversee the data security strategy and collaborate with various teams for successful showcase at Microsoft Ignite, Secure, RSA and other events.
  • Maintain the data security core assets such as pitch decks, demos, videos, roadmap decks, etc. to be used by the field in customer conversations.
  • Own the data security enablement strategy and work cross-functionally with engineering and product marketing team to deliver high-quality enablement sessions.
  • Engage directly with customers on data security through briefing sessions and share current capabilities and future direction.
  • Listen to field input from sellers to influence your marketing motions
  • Influence partner marketing for partner readiness
  • Identify opportunities to grow the overall Microsoft Purview Data Security business
