Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, sales or management consulting.
- Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently in order to partner with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the areas of mobile apps, digital content, mobile distribution channels, e-commerce or other mobile-focused businesses in Japan.
- Experience in sourcing, managing and negotiating with partners.
- Experience in establishing and growing C-level relationships.
- Ability to extract and organize data and generate insights.
- Ability to create presentations for internal and external audience.
About the job
As a Strategic Partner Development Manager, you'll open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions and evaluate/develop business opportunities. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide thought leadership and serve as a mentor to managers and associates. You are comfortable escalating and presenting business development strategies and key issues to senior management. You'll work closely with Google Product, Engineering, Legal and Sales teams on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships that support our online advertising business.
As an Import Partnerships Manager for Google Play, you will lead the efforts of bringing the world's best apps and games to Japan. You will build and nurture relationships with the international developers, guiding them to launch and expand their businesses on the Android platform and Google Play.
In this role, you will leverage the industry knowledge and business expertise to act as a trusted advisor. You will help our partners navigate the unique Japanese market, identify emerging trends, and overcome challenges to achieve significant growth for both their business and for Google.
Responsibilities
- Own the growth agenda for Google Play’s import business in Japan through category and partner initiatives. Manage and grow an import portfolio of apps and games partners.
- Engage with the partners to drive launch and post-launch initiatives, shaping and steering local GTM initiatives. Develop market analysis and import strategy to identify key opportunities for the local consumer market.
- Develop and execute cross-functional GTM plans or campaigns, contributing to overall buyer and business growth initiatives in Japan.
- Develop the network of local partners spanning localization agencies, marketing, Public Relations (PR), carriers, YouTube influencers etc., facilitating introductions for global developers. Connect global partners with relevant ecosystem partners.
- Drive the creation of case studies and best practice playbooks, documenting strategies for import partners in Japan to share with and inspire the broader set of international and Japanese developers.
