Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 8 years of experience in developing infrastructure or solutions within cross-functional engineering environments.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or in a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 7 years of experience in leading technical project strategy, Machine Learning (ML) design, and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

In this role, you will help to set the technical strategy and direction for this new team of Machine Learning (ML) Infrastructure software engineers supporting work to accelerate safe and responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance for Google. You will design and build infrastructure solutions that enable AI practitioners to meet their data compliance and safety requirements, while maintaining velocity and launching AI models and products.The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

We prioritize security, efficiency, and reliability across everything we do - from developing our latest TPUs to running a global network, while driving towards shaping the future of hyperscale computing. Our global impact spans software and hardware, including Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, the leading AI platform for bringing Gemini models to enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on projects by coaching a team of engineers. Collaborate with partners and stakeholders within and across the organizations to build joint roadmaps and drive outcomes.
  • Facilitate alignment across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
  • Work with numerous partner teams across Core ML, Google DeepMind, Core Privacy, Safety and Security (PSS), and Core Data. You will span across all levels of the stack, from high level Machine Learning (ML) tooling and frameworks (e.g., TuneLab, Gemax), to common ML services (e.g., XManager, TF Hub, Servomatic), to storage infrastructure (e.g., Colossus, Homunculus).
