Overview:
The Parks Retail Business Development team is focused on creating growth and value for the Domestic Parks/Disney Signature Experiences merchandise line of business through business analysis, the identification of new opportunities in support of business strategies, capital planning, capital project management, and initiative/project development and management.
The position will report to the vice president of Long-Term Planning and Parks Retail Business Development.
As Director, Retail Business Development and Business Support, you will be responsible for shaping the development of the Long-Term Capital Plan and Annual Capital Plan for DCP to achieve key business strategies, as well as creating value through analysis, identification of opportunities, and other key projects.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with partners, proactively guide the development of the Retail Long-Term Capital Plans and Annual Capital Plans for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney Signature Experiences.
Act as the merchandise champion for planned major capital attraction and entertainment projects, assessing the opportunities, gaining support for merchandise, and leading the projects through their phases.
Guide the identification, analysis, and development of merchandise-led capital projects. Gain support for inclusion into Site capital plans and lead the projects through approval and development lifecycle. Ensure projects support key business strategies.
Oversee approved projects through its stages to opening, partnering to ensure that projects stay on track and issues are effectively addressed.
Lead a cross-functional meeting that includes key stakeholders and partners to effectively drive project decisions and work.
Lead ad hoc analysis and work on other, non-capital, projects as assigned.
Lead projects, including analysis and recommendation development to create significant value for the business through revenue growth initiatives and cost reduction initiatives.
Proactively drive targeted analysis of the merchandise business specific to Sites and domestically that leads to identification of business opportunities.
Address opportunities and issues as they arise.
Understand and assess competitor impacts on the business.
Support Planning, Location Strategy, Product Strategy, and Merchants on Business Case development and decision support for initiatives.
Provide leadership to the Purchase Order Management and Business Support areas.
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years’ experience in retail roles, financial analysis and/or strategy development.
Proven creativity in identifying business opportunities and addressing issues.
Strong understanding of the Parks merchandise business inclusive of planning, capital projects, and store operations preferred
Excellent communication and relationship skills with a demonstrated ability to influence partners and key business decisions.
Excellent written communication skills. Proven ability to synthesize financial information into a concise story and communicate the story to various levels of leadership.
Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
Self-starter with natural curiosity and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
Ability to work within a complex, matrix organization and find creative solutions.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics, or other quantitative fields
