The CRA Qualification Associate will report to the Community Development Qualification Manager and operate as an independent contributor within a highly operational environment. This role is responsible for conducting detailed, transaction-level reviews of diverse loan and investment structures to determine and document CRA eligibility. The Associate must exercise sound judgement in evaluating transactions against regulatory requirements and internal policies, ensuring both the accuracy and volume of work meet rigorous standards. Primary responsibilities include reviewing loan and investment documentation, applying regulatory knowledge to assess CRA reportability, and preparing CRA exam materials and responses to requests. The position also supports process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and adapt to evolving regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to quickly learn and operate in a nuanced, highly regulated environment, with proven experience performing transactional reviews of loan and investment portfolios. Exposure to community development finance, including programs such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), is highly valued. This role offers the opportunity to play a leading part in enhancing CRA review processes and supporting key regulatory initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed, transactional-level reviews of loans and investments to determine and document CRA eligibility, ensuring both accuracy and efficiency.
- Interpret and apply CRA regulatory requirements, guidance, and internal policies to complex and diverse financial structures.
- Act as a subject matter resource for inquiries related to CRA eligibility and regulatory requirements, providing clear and informed responses.
- Support and manage projects related to CRA review processes, regulatory exams, and operational enhancements.
- Monitor policy changes, evaluate their impact on CRA processes, and assist with readiness and compliance efforts to ensure seamless adaptation.
- Identify, document, and implement best practices to enhance the CRA review process and drive continuous operational improvement.
Qualifications
Strong technical skills, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint/PitchPro. Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Databricks, Alteryx, and Tableau is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to quickly develop proficiency in regulatory requirements, changes, implications, marketplace dynamics and the economic environment.
Experience managing or supporting projects, with a focus on operational efficiency and process improvement.
Proven ability to navigate and communicate effectively across lines of business throughout the Firm.
Detail-oriented self-starter who possesses excellent investigative research abilities along with strong organizational and time management skills.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
