The NA Sub-Same Day Distribution Center (SSD DC) network is seeking a Sr. Operations Manager to own Site Change management along with site-level Learning and Quality functions. Amazon’s Sub-Same Day (SSD) network is designed to fulfill speed-sensitive products to Amazon’s customers in as little as 5-hours. Distribution Centers support this mission by holding safety stock which can be transshipped to each fulfillment center on an as-needed basis.
The Sr. Operations Manager will focus on people development, craft performance metrics, and drive standardization efforts at one of our large (1MM+ sq ft) SSD Distribution Center. They are involved in creating a culture of continuous improvement, and are able to steer the team in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
To be successful in this role, the Sr. Operations Manager will partner consistently with Operations, Program Managers, Finance, Network Planning, Safety, Tech, and other adjacent teams. They will have experience managing complex projects, proven strength in written and verbal communication with Sr. Leaders, a passion for Lean thinking and using data to make informed decisions, and an ability to think strategically about the long-term direction of the team. In addition, the Sr. Operations Manager will have direct ownership of the Learning and Quality teams on site. They will drive high standards and innovation in processes supporting inventory health, customer-facing quality, and both leader and associate onboarding. The ideal candidate for this role is continuously looking for big opportunities in both direct ownership and network influence, and is excited about autonomously creating road maps that drive high-level impact.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead and drive end-to-end change management process for all operational excellence and process improvement activities in the site while meeting overall business strategy and objectives.
• Lead and manage the site level learning activities such as training, onboarding and people development while ensuring operational budgets are delivered
• Manage operational quality metrics and drive initiatives to reduce defects. Proactively monitor progress against goals while anticipating and mitigating risks, creating and owning solutions, and successfully resolving issues.
• Spearhead new initiatives that enable business growth, enhance operations processes, and lower costs for the business and customers.
• Scale services, tools, and processes that will enable the business’ growth in volume and complexity while maintaining a high bar for the quality and safety
• Collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional teams to identify the impact of new operations initiatives. Integrate and deploy these initiatives, ensuring seamless execution and process excellence.
• Collaborate and work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Maintenance Engineering, Safety, IT and other leaders) to secure support for projects and initiatives and facilitate agreements to achieve shared business goals.
• Travel up to 25% of the time as determined by business need.
